Consultation & Design

Consultation & Site visit

The design process starts with you. To fully understand your vision and establish your brief, we will visit your outdoor space for an initial on-site consultation. The consultation is an opportunity for us to get to know you, how the outdoor space will be used, any likes or dislikes and to discuss your aspirations on how you’d like the space to be used, look and anything else. We follow this up with a written report outlining recommendations, with a quotation for a complete design package.

Stages of Design Process

Our design process can generally be broken down into 4 stages and each is available as an individual option or as part of our overall design package.

1. Site Layout / Concept

Site Survey/Assessment
We conduct a physical and biological survey that will provide us with a detailed, accurate, scaled layout plan of the existing landscape. A topographical survey may also be required depending on the situation.

Outline Design
We then create a concept drawing that is presented prior to completing the design. This explains the concept and overall feel for the garden and illustrates the areas of hard landscaping, planting, and features.

2. Site Layout / Plan Final

Final Site Layout Plan
The drawings, including elevations and cross sections, are then worked to scale and the final layout plan for the garden that will show the definitive position of the main features is created.

3. Site Layout/ Details

Quantities and Specifications
We provide a specification document outlining the precise work to be undertaken including the construction methods and materials to be used.

4. Site Layout / Planting Plan

Once the design is approved, we create a plant list that includes a record of botanical names and detailed planting plans if required. A planting scheme will be drawn up to suit the growing conditions of your garden, complement the design, and create the overall ambiance for the project. Over the years we have created many wonderful, innovative, functional gardens and landscapes; from small creative designs in suburban Dublin, to much larger complex projects in the UK and France.

Quantity Surveying & Estimation

We can also provide a detailed Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and tender documents to enable pricing by several contractors. We can produce cost estimates at various stages to facilitate budget planning.

Site/contract supervision

We can also provide complete project management, where we oversee the project from start to finish on your behalf and ensure that your garden is delivered exactly as planned.
