The Client’s vision
A retired couple living in a penthouse apartment overlooking the sea in Malahide, wanted to make something more of their roof terrace. But they were clear in that they required a low maintenance garden with a covered seating and BBQ area.
Our Solution
We provided comprehensive design and mood boards to visualise how their beautiful, low maintenance roof terrace would look. Within this we recommended high-quality teak decking with travertine inserts for strong design and to create flexible spaces. We chose material with an attractive smooth surface that would be suitable for use in all types of Irish weather. Seating was created from western red cedar with built in storage for outdoor furniture etc. We also constructed a pergola with Irish Oak, which was finished by toughened and laminated glass and a frameless glass balustrade was installed on top of the existing wall to provide shelter from the wind. Lighting and irrigation was also installed throughout.
Outcome
The result was a high quality sophisticated, low maintenance roof terrace overlooking the sea which the clients were delighted with.
